Aarhus, Denmark — Dr. Eva Feldman, Dr. Brian Callaghan and Dr. Rodica Pop-Busui attended the 2018 Annual Meeting of the International Diabetic Neuropathy Consortium (IDNC) on June 7-8. Hosted by Aarhus University, this year’s meeting was titled “Diabetic Neuropathy and the Way Forward.”
At the meeting, a panel of international experts discussed different aspects of type 2 diabetes including epidemiology of type 2 diabetes and obesity, experimental studies in diabetic neuropathy, effects of exercise in diabetes, the staging of diabetic neuropathy, autonomic neuropathy in diabetes, and the role of the Steno Diabetes Centers in Denmark for research and management.
Dr. Callaghan and Dr. Feldman presented on day one of the meeting. Dr. Callaghan spoke about the role of fat in diabetic neuropathy. Later, Dr. Feldman discussed lipid changes in diabetic neuropathy.
During day two, Dr. Pop-Busui presented what is known/unknown about cardiac autonomic neuropathy.
Representatives from six countries comprised the 80-plus delegates who attended the 2018 IDNC Annual Meeting.
